Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Saltanov Meets with Nigerian Ambassador to Moscow Dan Suleiman
On June 3, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Saltanov received Dan Suleiman, the new Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Moscow, who presented copies of his credentials.
Saltanov gave a high assessment to the role of Nigeria, which is the chairman of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union. He noted the readiness of Russia as a permanent member of the UN Security Council to render assistance to this new body in tackling the problems of Africa.
During the conversation, the sides discussed the prospects for the further development of Russian-Nigerian political cooperation. An exchange of views on a number of practical questions of bilateral relations took place. Mutual interest was reaffirmed in the deepening and expansion of ties between the two countries, among other things in the fuel and energy, metallurgical and other sectors, and the important role of the Intergovernmental Russian-Nigerian Mixed Commission on Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technological Cooperation and the need for the early holding of its full-scale meeting were accentuated.
