Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov Meets with Zimbabwean Minister of Foreign Affairs Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi


On September 18, a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Zimbabwe Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi took place on the fringes of the 60th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

A number of topical international themes were discussed. There was affirmed the identity of the sides' positions on the key issues of today, including the necessity to strengthen the central role of the United Nations in world affairs. Much of the discussion focused on the situation in Africa, in particular, the tasks of accelerating its economic and social development and resolving conflicts on the continent.

The ministers spoke in favor of building on the Russian-Zimbabwean political dialogue and more fully tapping the potential of bilateral ties in the trade, economic and other fields.
