Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Saltanov Meets with Algerian Ambassador to Moscow Amar Abba

On May 18 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Saltanov received the Ambassador of Algeria to Moscow, Amar Abba, at his request.

In the course of the meeting there were discussed questions of further strengthening of bilateral cooperation in various fields. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the high level of political dialogue, encompassing an extensive range of present-day issues, and of Russian-Algerian engagement in international affairs, including that in the United Nations Security Council, where Algeria is a nonpermanent member. A mutual desire to build on political contacts was affirmed.

In concrete terms steps aimed at intensifying ties in the commercial, economic, energy and other fields were considered. It was deemed necessary to accelerate the convocation of a meeting of the Mixed Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-and-Economic and Scientific-and-Technical Cooperation, as well as completion of the preparation of appropriate juridical documents.

Other questions related to increasing the dynamics in Russian-Algerian friendly relations were also discussed.
