Concerning Detention of Russian Helicopter by Sudanese Authorities

On July 24 F. al-Hadi Ibrahim, the Charge d'Affaires ad interim of the Republic of the Sudan at Moscow, was called into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and serious concern was expressed to him at the detention by Sudanese authorities in Al-Fasher in West Sudan of a Russian helicopter and its crew that was flying in transit from Russia to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). It was demanded that the Sudanese side immediately release the crew and resolve this incident.

The Sudanese diplomat's attention was drawn to the fact that the helicopter and its crew were bound for the DRC in accordance with the contract signed with the United Nations for participation in the peacekeeping mission of this organization.

F. al-Hadi Ibrahim promised to immediately bring this information to the notice of his leadership and expressed the hope that this regrettable incident will not affect the further development of friendly Russian-Sudanese relations.
