Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Ivanov Meets with Reda Shehata, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt

     Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor Ivanov on July 18 received Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt Reda Shehata, who is accomplishing his mission.

    On behalf of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Ivanov presented Shehata with a Russian government award - the Order of Friendship - which has been bestowed on him for his great contribution to the strengthening of friendship and cooperation between the peoples of Russia and Egypt.

    During the talk, the sides noted the onward character of the development of Russian-Egyptian ties in all fields, which had been confirmed during the working visit to Moscow of Ahmed Maher, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the ARE, in May 2002.

    Taking part in the talk were President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Y. M. Primakov, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Society of Egypt's Friends S. A. Vorobyov, Director of the Institute of Africa RAN A. M. Vasilyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation A. V. Saltanov, and Russian Ambassador to Egypt N. V. Kartuzov.
