Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Aleksandr Saltanov Meets with Sierra Leonean Deputy Minister of Defense Sam Hinga Norman

     Alexandr Saltanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, on April 15 received Sam Hinga Norman, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Sierra Leone, at his request. During the talk, questions of the progress in the peace process in Sierra Leone after conclusion of the civil war, as well as prospects for bilateral relations were touched on.

     Saltanov noted that Moscow regards the success in the Sierra Leonean settlement as a factor in improving the situation in the West African region as a whole and as a positive example for all of Africa. Russia is ready jointly with all concerned parties to assist further in every way the positive conclusion of the UN peacekeeping mission in Sierra Leone, and the final restoration of peace, stability and national reconciliation on its soil, which undoubtedly will be conducive to elevating the level of Russian-Sierra Leonean cooperation in various fields.
