30 Years of Russian-Niger Diplomatic Relations
February 17 marks 30 years of the establishment of Russian-Niger diplomatic relations.

On this occasion Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor Ivanov and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and African Integration Aichatou Mindaoudou exchanged telegrams of greetings, in particular, expressing the hope that the traditional relations of friendship between Russia and Niger will continue to develop for the good of the two peoples and in the interests of international cooperation and stronger stability on the African continent.

Over the past years Niger has been receiving assistance in the scientific, technological and cultural fields, and exchanges between public organizations have been taking place. More than 400 Nigerois have graduated from Russia's institutions of higher learning.

Dialogue is being conducted on the more outstanding problems of our time. This dialogue is based on the proximity or coincidence of positions on such key issues on the international agenda as the maintenance of strategic stability, the formulation of a democratic model of state-to-state relations and struggle against international terrorism.
