     Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Saltanov Meets with Namibian Ambassador to Moscow Marten Kapewasha

     On January 24, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Saltanov received Marten Kapewasha, Ambassador of the Republic of Namibia to Moscow.

     During the talk, held in a businesslike and constructive spirit, the sides exchanged views on topical problems in world politics and Russian-Namibian relations, devoting special attention to considering the results of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor Ivanov's visit to Namibia on December 14, 2001, which marked a milestone in cooperation between Moscow and Windhoek.

     A number of specific questions were discussed, in particular on the creation of a joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation and Trade. The sides reaffirmed their intention to build up mutually beneficial ties between the two countries.
