     Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor Ivanov Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Africa Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma

     On November 16 in the course of the 56th session of the UN General Assembly Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor Ivanov had a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Africa Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

     Ivanov gave a high assessment to the level of political cooperation between the two countries in the context of the common efforts for ensuring peace, stability and sustainable development and to the quests for adequate responses to the challenges of globalization.

     The exchange of opinions has borne out the community of approaches of Russia and South Africa to the problem of counteracting international terrorism, and the tasks of invigorating the UN's role in African affairs, and the striving for the maintenance of a constructive dialogue on the political settlement of conflicts in Africa and a comprehensive solution of the vital problems of this continent.

     Dlamini-Zuma invited Ivanov to pay a visit to the Republic of South Africa. The invitation was accepted with gratitude. A specific date will be arranged through diplomatic channels.
